Revisiting an Old Game
I have been dipping my toes back into some games I used to play long ago. This week I have been focusing on a game called Age of Conan, made in 2008 by Norwegian game company Funcom.
It is an MMORPG that is still available, with two servers. Crom is the PvE server, Fury is the PvP server. Both are world servers, but the game used to have EU and NA servers. Population decline lead Funcom to merge servers. There are twelve classes split into four archetypes- healer, tank, mage, rogue, with four races to choose from- Khitan (must purchase Rise of the Godslayer to access), Stygian, Aquilonian, and Cimmerian. The game centers around Conan as King of Aquilonia, in the hyborian age. Your character is a former slave, branded with the mark of Acheron, your mind erased to do the bidding of Thoth Amon, and the ship ferrying you and other slaves, sinks, which in the process, rids you of the Acheronian spirit within you.
It's still a fun game. IT looks like groups are still happening. Raids are still happening. I was surprised to see new guilds have emerged on this game. However, it is a shadow of itself.
The combat is still super fun. The graphics are REALLY showing their age.
Overall, fun revisit.
